A Catawba man faces a felony assault charge in connection with a stabbing that occurred at the Cedar Stump Pub in Troutman.
The Troutman Police Department announced the arrest of Jerry Wright, 58, in a news release on Wednesday.
The TPD responded to a report of an individual suffering from stabbing-related injury in the parking lot of the Cedar Stump Pub, located at 152 S. Main Street, at 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, March 29.
The first officer on the scene located the victim and rendered first-aid for a serious injury while awaiting the arrival of Iredell County EMS personnel, according to the news release.
Officers began investigating and determined that three individuals became involved in a verbal argument that led to a physical confrontation. During this confrontation, one of the subjects used a knife to stab another individual, according to the news release.
The stabbing victim was transported to a regional trauma center.
During the investigation, TPD criminal investigators interviewed the individuals involved in the incident as well as witnesses.
As a result of the investigation, Wright was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and Simple Affray. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office served this warrant, and Wright was given a $10,000 secured bond.
Joshua Wright, 36 of Mooresville, was charged with Simple Affray and this warrant was also served by the ICSO. He was released on a $1,500 secured bond.
A warrant for Dustin Loftin, 36 of Troutman, was obtained for the charge of Simple Affray and is pending service, according to the TPD.

Stop discussing further relaxing of open container zone, laws. Your support of this proposal to legalize the use of alcohol on the streets of Troutman will have a negative impact on Troutman’s family values/small town image. Please stop tarnishing our town’s good name.
