Larry Clayton Buie, 78, of Mooresville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 5, 2025. He was born on April 22, 1946, in Mooresville to the late Kermit Odell Buie and Lula Carrick Buie.

Larry retired from Masonite and previously worked for Flex Foam Company. He enjoyed sporting events, NASCAR and Hickory Crawdads. Larry was an avid gardener, where he loved to spend his time. Family meant everything to him, especially the grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Adrian Buie; and brothers-in-law, George Jordan and JC Curtis.

Those left to cherish Larry’s memory are his wife, Gloria Chapman Buie; children, Monica Buie and Crystal Hansbrough (Todd); step children, Michelle Alexander (Randy), Melinda Luffman, John Norman (Tara), and Rhonda Newsome (Rusty); brothers and sisters-in-law, Judy Curtis, Don Buie (Janet), Linda Barber (Richard), Nancy Jordan, and Randy Buie (Tina); grandchildren, Lacey Hopkins, Josh Kluttz, Christina Houston, Hannah Schleicher, Savannah Luffman, Treavor White, Victoria Meade, Cameron Newsome, Akira Lewis, and Brianna Norman; and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, N.C., with Pastor Rusty Newsome officiating. Burial will follow the service at Berea Baptist Church Cemetery in Mooresville.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank everyone at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House for all the great care they provided Larry.
