As part of this program, Rep. Todd Carver visited Mooresville High School on Monday, April 7, engaging with students, faculty, and administrators.

Discussions ranged from curriculum and extracurricular activities to the challenges and opportunities facing public education in North Carolina.

“It’s incredibly valuable to spend time directly in our schools and hear from the students and educators who are shaping the future,” said Carver, who was elected to his first term in the N.C. House in November 2024. “My visit to Mooresville High School provided me with a deeper understanding of their successes and the areas where legislative support can be most impactful. The students were engaged and thoughtful, and the dedication of the faculty is truly commendable.”

Mooresville Graded School District Superintendent Jason Gardner expressed his appreciation for Carver’s visit.

“We were honored to host Representative Carver and share the great learning environment at Mooresville High School,” Gardner said. “These interactions are crucial for building strong relationships between our educational community and our representatives in the legislature. It allows our students and staff to share their experiences directly and for our lawmakers to see the positive impact of their work and understand the needs on the ground.”

The Legislators in Schools initiative aims to provide legislators with a comprehensive view of the diverse needs and achievements within North Carolina’s public schools. By visiting schools across the state, lawmakers can gather valuable perspectives that will inform their policy decisions related to education.
