Mrs. Beulah June Watts Mack, 101, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on April 2, 1924, to the late Julius Alfred Watts and Zora Lackey Watts. She entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C., surrounded by her family and friends. On January 21, 1947, Beulah was married to Albert B. Mack, who preceded her in death. Also, four brothers, Fred Watts, Ernest Watts, Aishus Watts Sr., and Robert Watts; and six sisters, Janie Wellmon, Anna Alexander, Lela Watts, Mary Woods, Ruth Johnson, and Mildred Dawkins.
Beulah graduated from Morningside High School with honors and then moved to Philadelphia, Pa., shortly after graduation. She graduated with honors from Beaumont School of Nursing in 1950; Associates in Liberal Art from Saint Joseph’s College on September 15, 1977; bachelor’s degree from Antioch University on January 18, 1980; and a Masters in Social Work from Yeshiva University on September 15, 1982. She moved to Charlotte, N.C., in 1992, and became a member of Calvary Church, where she enjoyed going to the Jewish Center. Several years later, she moved to Statesville, where she was a member at Holsey Memorial CME Church. Beulah would always say “she was a lifelong learner.”
She is survived by a special niece, Ethelene Woods, and her husband Larry Woods; a host of other nieces, including a special niece, LaWanda Young; nephews, cousins, and friends; and special friend, Faye Parker.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holsey Memorial CME Church on Monday, April 14, 2025. Visitation will be from 1 until 1:30 p.m. Reverend Barbara will bring the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Park.
