Iredell Health System has hired Andrew R. Ross as director of education. He brings a wealth of healthcare knowledge and experience to the health system.

Ross has worked in Emergency Medical Services as a paramedic for over 24 years, though his experience extends far beyond the ambulance, including working in 911, air and ground critical care, and mobile integrated healthcare.
“I learned that I had a passion for teaching after becoming a preceptor, causing me to refocus my career from patient care to provider education,” said Ross. “My research interests and expertise lie in the application of educational theory, bioethics, and mobile integrated healthcare.”
Ross has over 18 years of experience as an educator, mostly at the community college level. Most recently, he was at the helm of the largest EMS education programs in North Carolina, not only teaching emergency medical technicians and paramedics, but registered nurses and physicians as well.
He earned his AAS in Emergency Medical Sciences from Gaston College, his BS in psychology from Fayetteville State University, and his MHA from the University of Scranton. He is currently working toward his PhD in leadership from Liberty University. He is certified as a National Registry Paramedic (NRP), IBSC Community Paramedic (CP-C), IBSC Flight Paramedic (FP-C), and IBSC Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C). He is also a certified instructor for the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) and the American Heart Association (AHA).
Ross is excited about his role with Iredell Health System.
“I have historically worked for community-based healthcare organizations. What drew me to Iredell was the positive response from the community, as well as IHS’s mission and dedication to both their patients and employees. I am very excited about the potential this organization has to help the community. I truly believe that healthcare education is the cornerstone of the care we provide. I am looking forward to helping IHS bring top-tier education to its staff so as to better benefit those we serve.”
Outside of work, Ross spending time with his family, playing music, or reading.
