A Statesville faces numerous charges, including two counts of drug trafficking, after being stopped by an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy for a vehicle registration violation.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Steven Lamont Bailey, 51, of Diamond Street, Statesville, in a news release Monday.
Deputy J. Lee conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Bailey Farm Road and Wilkesboro Highway due to a registration violation on Monday, Campbell said.
After approaching the vehicle, Deputy Lee made contact with Bailey, who was driving the vehicle. During the interaction, deputies developed probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle, the sheriff said.
The search resulted in the discovery and seizure of approximately 22.5 dosage units of Ecstasy, 5.96 grams of Fentanyl, 11 dosage units of Alprazolam, six dosage units of morphine, two dosage units of Oxycodone, and 20 grams of Marijuana, according to the news release.
Deputies also located multiple items of drug paraphernalia, Campbell said.
Bailey was placed under arrest and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where his bond was set at $250,000.
He is charged with Felony Trafficking Opium or Heroin (Fentanyl) by Possession, Felony Trafficking Opium or Heroin (Fentanyl) by Transport, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule II (Fentanyl), Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule I (MDMA), Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule IV (Alprazolam), Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule II (Morphine), Felony Maintain a vehicle for the Sale or Use of a Controlled Substance and four misdemeanor drug offenses.
According to the ICSO, the suspect’s criminal history includes the following charges: Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Marijuana; and two counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
