Robert “Bob” Lester Sharpe, 87, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C.

Bob was born on July 13, 1937, in Catawba County to the late Ruben Lester Sharpe and Freda Inez Reitzel Sharpe. He attended St. Andrews College and UNC Chapel Hill. He worked for Thor-Lo Industries.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a past exalted ruler of the Statesville Elks Lodge. He enjoyed gardening and yard work, and he loved the New York Yankees and the UNC Tar Heels.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Robbins.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Turner Sharpe; daughter, Gabby Sharpe McLaughlin (Eric); son, Scott A. Sharpe (Krista); granddaughter, Griffin “Gigi” Racine; grandsons, Matthew McLaughlin, Joseph McLaughlin, and Levon Sharpe; and niece, Susan Robbins.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Providence Methodist Church. Burial will take place at a later date in the Reidlawn Cemetery in Reidsville, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the S. Mitchell Mack House, c/o Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
