Carol Wayne Johnson, 76, of Statesville, N.C., passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends at the Gordon Hospice House on April 19, 2025.

Born March 7, 1949, to the late Ross Johnson and Janie Byers Johnson, he worked in the furniture industry as well as with the City of Statesville.

He enjoyed being outside whether hunting, fishing, welding, or working with his hands. He also enjoyed passing the time sitting on the porch playing with the family dogs. He loved his westerns; the TV could always be found on the Inspiration Channel. He loved decorating for Christmas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Foy Johnson and Harold Johnson; and his sisters, Shirley Stewart and Linda Woodside.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Danny Johnson (Nan) and Gary Johnson (Ashlie); grandchildren, Elaina Johnson and Elijah Johnson; his brothers, Melvin Johnson (Elaine) and Steven Johnson (Brenda); sister Donna Walls; sister-in-law, Jean Johnson; and brother-in-law Neil Stewart, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and family at Troutman Funeral Home from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2025, with a graveside service to follow at 3 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Nelson Granade officiating.

The family is grateful for the kindness and compassionate care given to Carol from the Gordon Hospice House staff. Therefore, memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
