Martha Kay Sherrill, 79, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C.

Kay was born on April 20, 1946, in Iredell County to the late Claude Massey and Betty Teague Massey. She was a graduate of Scotts High School and a member of Trinity Methodist Church. She loved gardening, flowers, and playing the piano, and she dearly loved her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Larry Massey, Johnny Massey, and C.W. “Bunny” Massey; and infant sister, Nancy Catherine Massey.

Those left to cherish Kay’s memory are her beloved husband of 34 years, Joe Sherrill; daughters, Teresa Wood and Allison Davis (Jeffrey); son, Joel Sherrill (Kris); grandchildren, Taylor Almond (Zac), Jordan Moeller (Danny), Sydney Mobley (Trey), Brantley Sherrill, and Clay Johnson (Alicia); seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy Massey; special niece and caregiver, Sarah Dalrymple; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, at Trinity Methodist Church with Pastor Moose officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
