Joyce Ann Komatowskas, 62, of Statesville, N.C., passed peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2020, at Davis Regional Medical Center.
She was born on November 27, 1957, in Utica, N.Y. Since 1987, Joyce has resided at an RHA Intermediate Care Facility and enjoyed life to her fullest. She considered RHA residents and staff as her family and was considered quite a character. Her smile would light up an entire room and she loved her music, chicken, outings and her time at the workshop.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Melva Vlack; father, Frank Komatowskas; her sister Susan Yanus; and two nephews.
Joyce is survived by her step father, Wayne Vlack of Mooresville; brother Keith Vlack of Troutman; and sister Diana (Jim) Palomba of Massachusetts; as well as her nieces, Tammy Y. Tevepaugh of Statesville, and Susan Palomba, Christine (Curtis) Smith, and Janelle Palomba, all of Massachusetts; and as well as great nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to RHA Health Services and Davis Regional Medical Center staff for the excellent care and compassion they have shown to Joyce and her family through the years.

I remember Joyce from the early days. I worked with her as staff in RHA homes from 1989 intil 1994. Joyce will always be a part of my fond memories working with some very special people. May she rest in peace.
