Five Iredell County 4-H members recently competed in the 4-H presentation contest at the county level and in the South-Central District Activity Day.

District Competition

Participating 4-H’ers chose a topic and put together an educational presentation with visual aids. Typically, the contest is held in person, but due to COVID-19, this year’s contests were held virtually.

In the Livestock and Dairy Production category, Cooper Grebe finished third in the 8-10 age division with his presentation on “How to Wash a Cow.” Hannah Loftin’s presentation, “How to Clip Your Heifer So She is Ready for Those Colored Shavings,” won first place in the 14-18 age division.

Ruth McMeans competed in the Foods and Nutrition category, 11-13 age division, and placed third with her presentation titled “Eating Healthy.”

Naomi McMeans won first place in the Open Class category, 8-10 age division, with her presentation “Finding Solutions to Things That Come Up.”

Grant Hall won first place in the Forestry and Wildlife category, 11-13 age division, with his presentation on “Turkey Calls.”

All five youth won first place in the county-level competition.

Iredell County 4-H is extremely proud of these youth — they are great representatives of our community, officials stated.
