A suspect faces a dozen charges in connection with a home-invasion near Troutman on Tuesday afternoon.

Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Chad Bradley Moore, 43, in a news release Wednesday.

Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a home on Fern Hill Road about 5 p.m. on Tuesday following a 911 call reporting the home invasion. The female victim stated there were two victims still inside the residence who were tied up, according to the news release.

When the deputies arrived at the home, they located a victim in the front yard of the residence. She told them the suspect was a family member and that he had stolen her car and fled the scene, Campbell said.

The woman said the other victims were still in the residence. She was unable to get into the house because the suspect had locked the door and taken the keys when he drove away, the sheriff said.

Deputies were able to make entry into the residence. After going inside the home, they located another victim who was in the process of untying himself. The third victim, an elderly female, was still tied up when she was located and in need of medical assistance, according to the news release.

Detectives were able to free the woman and provided medical care for her until Iredell County EMS personnel arrived on scene. She was quickly stabilized and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, ICSO crime scene investigators began to process the scene for evidence while detectives interviewed witnesses and neighbors.

The victims told detectives that Moore had entered the home and demanded money, according to the news release.

When they refused to give him money, Moore assaulted them and tied all three of them up and stole their credit cards, Campbell said. He then untied one of the victims and was going to take her with him.

But the woman escaped and ran to a nearby residence, where she called 911.

Detectives shared the suspect’s description and the vehicle description with other law enforcement agencies. The detectives then secured felony arrest warrants for Moore.

A short time later, ICSO detectives were notified that Moore had attempted to use one of the stolen bank cards in Belmont, Campbell said. He made subsequent attempts to use the stolen bank cards in the Charlotte area, according to the news release.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department’s Real Time Crime Unit notified the ICSO that the stolen vehicle had been spotted and officers were responding to attempt to arrest Moore in Charlotte.

When CMPD officers attempted to stop Moore in the stolen car, he refused to stop and a chase started in Mecklenburg County. The chase ended when the vehicle eventually stopped, and officers were able to take Moore into custody without further incident.

Moore was transported to Iredell County, where we was charged with three counts of felony first-degree kidnapping, felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felony assault by strangulation, three counts of felony financial card theft, felony break and enter to terrorize or injure, two counts of felony larceny after break and enter, misdemeanor assault on a female, and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.

Magistrate Hollar issued a $750,000 secured bond on the Iredell County charges. Moore was also charged with two counts of felony flee to elude arrest from the CMPD and received a $20,000 secured bond on these charges.
