Mrs. Miranda Yelanda Wilson Smith was born in Iredell County on November 30, 1965, and was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Janie Mattox Wilson. She departed this life on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., following an extended illness.
She was a graduate of Statesville High School, and her hobbies included drawing and cooking. She was united in marriage to Julius Dewayne Smith, who survives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Michael Smith.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life her husband, Julius Dewayne Smith of the home; three sons, Matthew Smith of Denver, N.C., Michael Smith of Baltimore, Md., and Justin (Laura) Smith of Wilkesboro, N.C.; five brothers, Matthew (Donna) Wilson, Mark Wilson, Chauncy Teasley and Fredrick Wilson, all of Statesville, and Freddie Wilson of Hickory; four sisters, Maria Russell and Sherry Wilson, both of Statesville, Madonna Wilson of Ohio, and Lisa Caldwell of Mooresville; a sister-in-law, Leslie Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Carter, Adalene and Alaya; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Friday, November 13, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Highland Acres Church of Christ. Brother Al Simmons will officiate.
General Public viewing will start Thursday, November 12, 2020, from 2 until 7 p.m. and resume on Friday, November 13, 2020, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. She will lie in state at 12 noon at the church, prior to the service.

I worked with Miranda a long time ago. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She had such a wonderful laugh.
So sorry for your loss. She was such a sweet, genuine person. I haven’t spoken with her in years, but her kindness definitely left an impression. Praying for the family.
