FROM STAFF REPORTS
As the number of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths continues to rise, Iredell County’s top healthcare executives and elected officials from throughout the county are urging residents to wear face coverings.
The CEOs from Iredell Health System, Davis Regional Medical Center, Piedmont HealthCare and Lake Norman Regional Medical Center joined the county health director, mayors and county commission chairman on Friday afternoon at the county government center.
The purpose of the gathering was to highlight the importance of wearing face coverings to slow the spread of COVID-19. A public service campaign featuring these leaders will be released in the coming days.
The number of hospitalizations reported by the Iredell County Department doubled from 25 to 50 on Friday as the number of laboratory confirmed cases in the county climbed to 6,224. Some 1,102 people who have tested positive are currently isolating at home.
Seventy-two people in the county who have tested positive have passed away.
Thank you for the excellent message, very informative. I hope and pray the residents of Iredell County hear this message loud and clear, wear masks and social distance. Great to see our county officials and health care leaders come together to help educate us and encourage us to work together to stop the spread of Covid, #MaskUp
