Sandra Anne Rewerts Thompson, 77, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Autumn Care of Statesville.

A native of Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret Dement Rewerts. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Statesville and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. In her spare time, she loved to read and bake. She collected Nutcrackers, worked Crossword Puzzles and was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Bill, Norm, Ron, Jerry, Tom, Dick, and Jim Rewerts. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Carol Martinez.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Paul Wayne Thompson; by her son, Mark Thompson of Holland, Ohio; and by her daughter, Laurie Lyons (Lewis) of Statesville. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Scott, Skyler, Dylan, Saige, and Amanda, and by five great-grandchildren, Riley, Sophie, Emma, Bradley, and Makayla.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal funeral rites for Mrs. Thompson.
