Billy Ray Sharpe, 77, of Olin, N.C.,  passed away Monday, December 14, 2020, at W.G. Hefner V.A. Medical Center. He was born Thursday, October 28, 1943, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Boyd Lee Sharpe and Virginia Hefner Sharpe. He worked as a supervisor at the Kawaunee Scientific Corporation and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by one son, Radale Lee Sharpe; one brother, Roger Dale Sharpe; and one nephew, Johnathan Sharpe.

Billy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Peggy Ann Gatton Sharpe of the home; one daughter, Jada Sharpe of the home; one sister, Margaret Menscer and husband Charles of Statesville; one niece, Alison Linebarger and husband Jon of China Grove; and grand niece and nephew, Megan and Evan Linebarger.

A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at New Prospect Baptist Church. Military Honors provided by Harmony American Legion Post 113. The body will lie in state from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Chapman Funeral Home.
