Ruth Karriker Hodge entered the church triumphant on December 29, 2020, after a brief illness. Ruth was born on November 27, 1941, to the late Mr. & Mrs. M.T. Karriker in Rowan County, N.C.
She graduated from Catawba College and spent 33 years teaching in the Rowan County School System. For many years, she and her late husband, Robie, owned and operated Hodge Farms, manufacturer of Ranchers Pride Feeds and retailer of other livestock feeds. Another passion was her love for her chickens, cats, livestock, riding her Gator, having her garden and Duke basketball.
She was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where she was very active in the congregation. She served on the church council, taught Bible school and Sunday school, was treasurer of WELCA and had many other positions.
Those left to cherish her memories are her son, Robert Hodge; son, Joe Hodge (Teyah); daughter, Ann Ridenhour (Jimmy); granddaughters, Grace and Claire Hodge; sisters, Evelyn Foster of Salisbury and Nena Gibson of Mooresville; and numerous nephews & nieces.
Her graveside service will be at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Mount Ulla at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2021. Her service is open to the public.
