Two suspects felony drug charges after Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies seized six pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop off Interstate 40.
Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Maiden residents Yeu Lo Yang, 41,and Kee Her, 41, in a news release Monday.
Deputies assigned to the ICSO Interstate Criminal Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on a California registered BMW for traffic violations on I-40 eastb mound near the 161 mile marker on Sunday, January 3, Campbell said in the news release.
During the course of the traffic stop, ICSO K-9 Abby made a positive alert for the presence and odor of a narcotic in the vehicle, Campbell said.
The deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered six pounds of marijuana in individually vacuumed packages in the trunk of the BMW, according to the news release.
Both occupants of the vehicle, Yeu Lo Yang and Kee Her, were arrested on scene. They were transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where each was charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana, Felony Maintain a Dwelling or Vehicle foe the Sale or Use of a Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Yang was also served with a warrant charging her with Felony Obtaining Property by False Pretenses in Guilford County.
Magistrate Thompson issued Yang a $45,000 secured bond, and Her a $35,000 secured bond on these charges. Additional charges may arise from further investigation, Campbell said.
