N.C. Sen. Vickie Sawyer has been appointed co-chair of two important transportation committees for the upcoming legislative session.

Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger appointed Sawyer (R-Iredell, Yadkin) to serve as co-chair of the Senate Transportation Committee and co-chair of the Transportation Appropriations Committee.

In addition, Sawyer was tapped to serve as a member of the Senate’s Base Budget Committee,  Commerce and Insurance Committee, Education Committee and Finance Committee.

“It is truly an honor being appointed to serve as chairman of both the Senate Transportation Committee and Senate Transportation Appropriations Committee,” Sawyer said. “Thank you to Senate Berger for his continued trust and confidence in me to lead such an important committee in the North Carolina General Assembly. I’m ready to hit the ground running and look forward to the work we will accomplish.”
