FROM STAFF REPORTS
A student at the Collaborative College for Technology & Leadership has organized a virtual 5K race to raise money for the Boys & Girls Club of the Piedmont.
Isaac Kauffman, a lifelong runner, said he decided to plan the event for his senior project as a way to give back to the community.
“The Boys and Girls Club wants to offer the kids every opportunity that they need in order to make the best out of themselves,” Kauffman said. “A 5K is meant to bring the community together and the Boys and Girls Club would benefit because of this.”
He had hoped to have a large event with hundreds of participants running to show their support for the nonprofit.
But the COVID-19 pandemic derailed those plans. So “The Boys and Girls Club Hot Cocoa Virtual 5k Race” will be a do-it-yourself-at-a-time-convenient-for-you-affair.
