James “Jimmy” Alvin Carter, 84, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. He was born on January 22, 1936, in Sunbury, Pa., to the late Russell and Margaret Stuck Carter.
Mr. Carter was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Mooresville.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by wives Gloria Carter and Lana Carter; a son, John Carter; and brothers, Donovan and Robert Carter.
He is survived by his son Jimmy (Robyn) Carter of Chesterfield S.C.; a grandson Jimmy; stepson Justin (Teresa) McDaniel of Mooresville; granddaughters Mollee and Maddisen; stepson Jason (Cyndi) McDaniel of Wilmington and grandchildren Gabrielle McDaniel, Jordan McDaniel and wife Sara McDaniel; Joshua McDaniel and wife Madi McDaniel and their children Asher James McDaniel and Adeline Rose McDaniel; granddaughter Alexandria McDaniel and her daughter Laela Belle McDaniel; grandchildren, Alyssa McDaniel, Ashlynn McDaniel, Joseph McDaniel, Jacob McDaniel, and Jaden McDaniel; daughter Gernilee in New York; sisters Nancy Louis of Melbourne, Fla., Gernilee Carter of State College, Pa., and Susan Carter of Harrisburg, Pa.; and brother Nathan (Beverly) Carter of Sunbury, Pa.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Mark E. Harris officiating. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, at the Salisbury National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3365, Mooresville, NC 28117.
