Animal Care Technician
Full-Time Permanent – $29,738.76 – $46,124.99 Annually
Department: ANIMAL SERV & CONTROL
Under general supervision, performs a combination of office and shelter duties in the operation of the animal shelter for the Animal Services and Control Department. Work involves cleaning the animal kennels, feeding and watering animals, processing animal surrenders, reclaims and adoptions, giving rabies vaccinations, educating the public on ordinances and statutes related to the ownership and treatment of animals, assisting in the office, participating in the health care of animals, and humanely euthanizing animals when necessary. Employee must exercise independent judgment and initiative in performing assigned tasks. 

Animal Services Volunteer
Volunteer – $0.00 Annually
Department: ANIMAL SERV & CONTROL
Iredell County Animal Services is an “Open Admission” Shelter, meaning we must take in any animal coming through our doors. In a given year, we take in upwards of 6,000 animals. The Volunteer Program was formed to assist Shelter Staff in placing as many animals as possible in new homes, and providing care for them while they are housed at the shelter. Together, we will work toward saving all healthy and treatable animals.

Deputy Sheriff
Full-Time Permanent – $41,273.34 – $60,412.45 Annually
Department: SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
PREQUISITES: Complete all requirements to become a Sworn Deputy before assuming duties as Deputy Sheriff described below, to include Basic Law Enforcement Training and any other requirements set forth by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office or the State of North Carolina. A willingness to make a contractual commitment to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and serve as a Deputy Sheriff. Once the proceeding described requirements are met then be able to perform duties and tasks described below. 

Detention Deputy Sheriff
Full-Time Permanent – $41,273.34 – $60,412.45 Annually
Department: JAIL
Employees in this class perform inmate detention, care, security, and release work in accordance with established policies and procedures. Work includes the observation and accompaniment of inmates inside the jail, serving meals, medical staff escort, related care and record keeping requirements. Employees must exercise independent initiative and judgement in making decision regarding inmates and their custody, with suicidal, violent, or mentally unstable tendencies, and in dealing with attorneys, families, and others. Work involves exercising tact, firmness, and decisiveness in handling routine and emergency situations. 

Detention Officer
Full-Time Permanent – $38,229.57 – $55,215.76 Annually
Department: JAIL
Employees in this class perform inmate detention, care, security, and release work in accordance with established policies and procedures. Work includes the observation and accompaniment of inmates inside the jail, serving meals, medical staff escort, related care, and record keeping requirements. Facility Maintenance Technician – TEMPORARY
Full-Time Permanent – $13.67 – $21.20 Hourly
Department: FACILITY SERV & SUPPORT
Please Note: This is a Temporary position with the possibility of becoming a Permanent position. Under limited supervision, performs general maintenance repairs to County buildings and facilities. Work involves general janitorial and sanitizing duties, general grounds work as needed, and general interior work repairs as needed. Employee is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks for the Department, such as picking up mail as needed, picking up and delivering food items for meetings as needed; janitorial duties, including but not limited to, sanitizing, cleaning restrooms, interior cleaning, as well as exterior cleaning, picking up trash, etc. 

Interpreter II
Full-Time Permanent – $34,034.39 – $52,787.53 Annually
Department: SOCIAL SERVICES
The primary purpose of the Spanish Interpreter position is to assist non-English speaking or limited English speaking Hispanic adults or families in accessing needed assistance and services at the Department of Social Services. This could involve interpreting services at the agency, in the home, and rarely in courts. This position would also require the translating of forms into Spanish as well as translating Spanish documents into English. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of the program area, regulations, policies, procedures, etc. assigned. Considerable knowledge of the ethics of interpreting.

Department: IC LIBRARY STATESVILLE
Assist with general library duties.

Scale House Operator
Full-Time Permanent – $28,430.94 – $44,096.55 Annually
Department: S/W MOORESVILLE
Employees in this class are responsible for the daily operation of the scales at the county transfer facility. Daily operation includes greeting drivers at the window, answering the telephone, weighing vehicles, generating tickets for commercial/contract haulers and receiving cash payments from non account customers for chargeable materials, and maintaining records and reports. Relative independence is exercised in performing routine duties. Considerable public contact is involved with users of the transfer station, requiring tact, courtesy and firmness when needed in enforcing solid waste rules. 

Senior Planner III
Full-Time Permanent – $48,742.09 – $75,645.80 Annually
Department: PLANNING 
Under general supervision, performs advanced professional planning, research, and administrative work in the County Planning Department. Work involves overseeing the preparation and presentation of technical data, reports, ordinances and correspondence for various Boards and Commissions; researching tax, land and Census records; providing technical assistance to the public and various agencies on planning and development matters; and coordinating meetings of various groups to provide information concerning land development codes and guidelines.
