Cloverleaf Elementary, an International Baccalaureate World School, celebrated being 100 days smarter recently.

Iredell-Statesville Schools made it to the 100-day mark on the school calendar on January 22. The school celebrated the 100th day of school by dressing up as 100-year-old teachers and students. Students also made homemade T-shirts that displayed 100 in some form.

Kindergarten teacher Mandi Gragg and teacher assistant Carla Simpson are proud of their students for making it through these challenging COVID-19 times.

While some parents were initially concerned about safety and their kids returning, the kindergarten students in their classroom have faithfully worn their face masks, followed the rules and social distanced whenever possible.

Many of 100-day activities were tied into math and counting skills practice, such as counting by 10s to 100, and arts and craft activities for the younger students.

“The 100th day of school is always an exciting day for the school to reflect on what we have accomplished and look forward to the growth in the months to come,” said Principal Andy Mehall. “We have been in school face to face since August and have made amazing gains with our students.”

With more than 500 students in the building each day, Cloverleaf’s staff has taken its responsibility to provide a safe learning environment to heart.

“I’m so proud of all the staff, parents and students for all their hard work to stay safe and keep education first,” Mehall said.
