Jean Paige Taylor Pero, 89, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at her home.
Mrs. Pero was born January 17, 1932, in Jacksonville, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Barney and Olive Aman Taylor. She was a graduate of Jacksonville Schools and Atlantic Christian College. On June 7, 1951, she married Paul James Pero, who passed away July 26, 1999. In 1964, Paul and Jean moved to Statesville, where they became members of Broad Street United Methodist Church and she became the Children’s Librarian at the Iredell County Library. She loved Broad Street UMC, where she was a Sunday School teacher and served on various other committees. She also loved playing bridge at the Senior Center, square dancing at the Rec Center and being a member of the Good Sam’s Camping Club.
Mrs. Pero is survived by one son, John Pero (Sarah) of Roanoke, Va.; two grandsons, Matthew Richard Pero of Amelia, Va., and David Paul Pero of Roanoke, Va.; one great granddaughter, Raelynn Harper Pero; and one nephew, Bobby Taylor of Lynchburg, Va., and other great nieces and nephews.
A private family funeral service will be held at Broad Street UMC Chapel on Friday, February 12, 2021, with a graveside service to be held at the Aman Cemetery in Jacksonville, N.C., with her nephew, Billy Taylor, officiating on Saturday, February 13, 2021.
