Hubert “Skip” Eugene Frye, 63, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021. He was born Sunday, April 14, 1957, in Iredell County to the late Herbert Hoover Frye and Bertha Mae Queen Frye.
Skip was a member of South River Baptist Church. He was employed by First Fleet Trucking Company.
In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by three sisters, Wanda Johnson, Lee Mason, and Linda Frye.
Skip is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Pence Frye of the home; one son, Casey Wilson Frye and wife Brittany of Statesville; one daughter, Ashley Brooke Frye of High Point; two sisters, Diana Hartness and husband Dennis and Bonnie Millsaps and husband King, both of Statesville; two grandchildren, Ryder Brooks Frye and Carter Wilson Frye; brother and sister-in-law, Walter Pence and wife Pat of Cleveland, N.C., a number of nieces and nephews; a dog Coco, and cat Luna.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at South River Baptist Church. Pastor Chris Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow in the South River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2021, at the church. All CDC guidelines will be followed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to South River Baptist Church, 2659 S. Chipley Ford Road, Statesville, NC 28625.

I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Skip. I was fortunate enough to be somewhat part of his family for a period of time. Skip was always very nice and welcoming to me. My heart goes out to you Mary Jo, Casey, and Ashley. Also to Bonnie, Diane and the entire family during this sad time. He will surely be missed by each and everyone that knew him. ??
