FROM STAFF REPORTS
The number of Iredell-Statesville Schools staff and students testing positive for COVID-19 plunged last week.
Three staff members and seven students tested positive during the week of February 26-March 4, according to the district’s latest COVID-19 dashboard.
District officials said none of the cases was the result of secondary infection spread in schools.
Parents of students at seven district schools were notified by I-SS and the Iredell County Health Department of possible exposure during that week. That is a significant decrease from January when the number hovered around 20 for several weeks.
Here is the list of schools where parental notifications were necessary:
ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
Celeste Henkel
East Iredell
Woodland Heights
MIDDLE SCHOOLS
East Iredell
HIGH SCHOOLS
Lake Norman
North Iredell
South Iredell
Meanwhile, a total of 34 staff members and 310 students across the district were forced to quarantine or isolate due to possible exposure to COVID-19.
Students are on spring break March 8-12.
