Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell on Thursday announced the arrests of nearly two dozen individuals on assorted drug charges following undercover investigations during the past three months.

Additional suspects have not been apprehended.

“We have had to be creative in how we conduct undercover drug investigations, and suspect round-up operations during the COVID-19 outbreak,” Campbell said. “We never stopped responding to complaints and community concerns about this type of information. By continuing to arrest these suspects in smaller, but more frequent groups, it builds mistrust among the drug dealers and makes individuals think twice before selling or buying these drugs. It also insures we keep our detention center, and the staff member’s safe during these times.”

Most of the suspects live in the Statesville area; others live in Mooresville, Troutman and Cleveland. Two of the suspects are verified gang members.

The sheriff stressed that arresting drug dealers will continue to be a priority.

“Make no mistake,” Campbell said, “there are undercover drug operations going on right now, and we will continue to keep using the information gathered from these arrests as well as the information the community continues to provide to make additional arrests in the future.”
