Lois Ann Vermillion Coonfield, 79, of Statesville, N.C., died Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Gordon Hospice House.
She was born in Hulbert, Oklahoma, on May 21, 1942, to the late Elton Jack Vermillion and Anna Daniels Vermillion. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Edward Coonfield, in 2012; a sister, Marjorie Sydebotham; and a brother, Elton J. Vermillion Jr.
Lois graduated from Dewey High School in Oklahoma. For over 20 years, she and her husband owned and operated Treasure Chest Antiques in Salida, Colo. After moving to Statesville, she worked with NASCAR teams including Travis Carter, Ray Evernham and Richard Petty. She then volunteered at Davis Regional Medical Center in the gift shop. Lois was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she enjoyed activities with her Sunday School class. Lois loved to laugh and was a people person, having never met a stranger.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Dustin Coonfield (Leanna) of Troutman, N.C.; a brother, Bo Vermillion (Janet) of Ochelata, Okla.; and a sister, Rose Dodd of Celina, Texas, along with several nieces and nephews. She also loved her Old English sheep dog, Bristol.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
