Elaine McElveen Ballard, 76, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Born July 5, 1943, in Mecklenburg County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late George Gamel McElveen and Sue Poole McElveen.

Mrs. Ballard was a 1961 graduate of Mooresville High School. She was a retired Medical Administrator with Charlotte Orthopedic. Mrs. Ballard was a lifetime member of Central United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in various committees, choir and mission projects.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sid Ballard; son, Darin Ballard; brother, George McElveen, Jr.; and great grandson, Samuel Talbert. Mrs. Ballard is survived by her son, Greg Ballard and his wife Franda; grandchildren, Geoffrey Ballard and wife Tiffany, and Jennifer Talbert and husband John; great- grandchildren, Kortlyn, Grier, Zeb, Olive and Oakley; sisters, Brenda Troutman and Christa Owens and husband Frank; brother, Ronald McElveen; nieces, Torie Owens, Banning Troutman and Natalie McElveen; and nephew, Patrick McElveen.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019, at Central United Methodist Church, Mooresville. Burial will follow in Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service in the the church fellowship hall.
