The Rev. Charles “Chuck” Taylor White passed away June 30, 2022, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C., with his wife Judy by his bedside. Chuck was born April 22, 1935, in Rock Island, Ill.

From grade school through high school, he lived in Morning Sun, Iowa, with his family. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served sixteen months in Korea before being honorably discharged in 1955. He then enrolled as a student at Tarkio College in Tarkio, Mo., where he met his future wife Judy.

After graduating from Tarkio College in 1960 with a B.A. degree in Business Administration and Economics, he felt a call to the ministry. He attended the University of Dubuque Theological Seminar, Dubuque, Iowa, for two years, served as student-pastor in two small rural churches while attending Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Divinity, and was ordained a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). He served as pastor of churches in Dexter, Iowa, Sturgis, S.D., Jamestown, N.D., and Mountain Home, Ark. He served as Moderator of the Black Hills, South Dakota Presbytery. Even after his retirement in 2005, he continued to serve on the COM until 2008. For 45 years he faithfully served his denomination, the Presbyterian Church (USA). He moved to Mooresville, N.C., in 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Gladys White, of Morning Sun, Iowa, and a brother, Franklin Thomas White, whose wife Bonnie survives him.

Chuck is survived by his beloved wife Judy; two sons, Jon (Jennifer) White of Mooresville, N.C., and Joel (Tanya) White of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Arai White, of La Habra, Calif., Taylor Ann White of Seattle, Wash., and Sam White of Santa Rosa, Calif.

At Chuck’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date for family members in Grant Township Cemetery in Reinbeck, Iowa.
