Billy Carl Hess, 67, of Concord, N.C., passed away on July 8, 2022, at his home with his wife Glenda at his side. He was born on January 26, 1955, in Hialeah, Fla., to the late Billy Hess and Nancy Womack Hess. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Chris Lawson.
Billy achieved so many things in his life. He was a successful racecar driver for many years before starting his own business, Hess Racing. Billy was known by many in the racing industry and built numerous winning cars across all NASCAR divisions. Billy was also a pilot with an adventure for travel. Billy was very much a lover of animals.
Billy married his lifelong best friend, Glenda Browning Hess, in 1983. They shared 39 years of marriage, being best friends and loving life. He is also survived by step-parents, Eugene Sanchez and Cora Hess; daughter, Kelly Lawson; grandchildren, Brixton and Ian; sister, Sharity Suita of Miami, Fla.; brother, Barry Hess; and numerous other loved ones.
A Celebration of Billy’s Life will be held on July 11, at 6 p.m. in the Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Hamilton officiating.
