Marietta Ramsey Upright, 81, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022. She was born on October 11, 1941, in Iredell County to the late Brownlow and Mary Dun Ramsey.

She was a member of Mooresville First Baptist Church where she taught pre-school and Sunday school, for she adored children. Marietta enjoyed arts and crafts, collecting dolls, and listening to Elvis’ music. She loved her family and her dogs. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Clayton Upright.

She is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Brown (Diane Lambert) of Cleveland, N.C.; sisters, Carol White of Charlotte, N.C., and Rose Isaac of Mooresville; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2022, at First Baptist Church, Mooresville with Dr. Jerry Cloninger Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church.
