Mrs. Annie Marie Falls Fonseca, 85, of 111 Sweetwater Drive, Statesville, N.C., was born in Iredell County on January 15, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Robert Michael Falls and Gladys Marie Waddell Falls. She departed this life on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at the Gordon Hospice House following an extended illness.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Tawanda Fonseca and Loretta Michelle Fonseca, and a brother, Ollie Lackey. She was married to Edward Fonseca, who survives, for over 57 years.
She attended Morningside High School and was employed by Flex Knit at one time as a Sewing Machine Operator. She was also known by many for her store, Mother Love’s Clothing Store. She was a member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Edward Fonseca, she leaves to cherish the memory of her life her children, Billette Hewitt of Statesville, Gladys “Robbie” Davis and James “Jimmy” (Virginia) Lowery, both of Atlanta, Ga., Edward Ray Fonseca of New Bedford, Mass., Terry Williams of Florida, Edway Roy Fonseca Jr. and Joseph “Mike” Fonseca, both of Statesville; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Suppienet and Delores Fonseca, both of New Bedford, Mass.; fifteen grandchildren, James “Pete” (Lisa) Davis of Atlanta, Ga., Deidre Hewitt of Lenoir, N.C., Willie “Paul” Davis of Atlanta, Ga., James “Pee Wee” Nesbit of Columbia, S.C., Teresa Stamp of Taylorsville, N.C., Tisha Augustus and Kenneth “A.J.” (Shontae) Edgerton, both of Statesville, Vanessa Louis and LeJon Louis, both of San Jose, Calif., Tia Edgerton and Kia Edgerton, both of Statesville, Joseph Fonseca of San Jose, Calif., Kelly Fonseca and Kaylee Fonseca, both of Mooresville, N.C., and Lawson Fonseca of Statesville; fifteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family, neighbors and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Thursday, December 5, 2019, at 1 p.m. at New Life Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Ivan Cowan, Pastor will officiate. Mrs. Fonseca will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 11:30 a.m. Members of the family will receive from 12 until 1 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.

My deepest condolences and prayers goes out to the family for a loving lady who I really enjoyed bowling with. She was a very sweet lady that will give you the clothes off her back and loved her very much. She was full of joy and had a very sweet spirit and smile. She will be truly missed but in a much better place then we are.
