Franklin “Bunny” Delano Rimmer, 86, of Stony Point, N.C., passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. He was born in Alexander County on Wednesday, January 11, 1933, to the late Roy Hayward Rimmer and N. Gertrude Murdock Rimmer.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, he was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #593.
In addition to his parents Franklin was preceded in death by, two sons, Eddie Ray Rimmer, and Randy Allen Rimmer, two brothers, Knox Rimmer, and Leo Rimmer, and two sisters, Nell Weaver, and Helen Adams.
Franklin is survived by his wife Mildred Jan Fox Rimmer of the home; three sisters, Doris Overcash of Stony Point, Margie Moore of Statesville, and Willie Little of Taylorsville; five grandchildren, Anthony Rimmer and wife Kristy, Seth Rimmer, Shane Rimmer, Zach Rimmer, and Stacy Mellin; and one great-grandchild, Kiley Rimmer.
The Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Henry Cook and Rev. Don McIntrye will officiate. Military Rites will be provided by Harmony American Legion, Post 113. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the church.
