Mr. Kent Alvin Gray, 53, was born in Iredell County on August 21, 1969, to James William Gray and the late Frances Elizabeth Gaines Gray. He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N.C.
Kent was a graduate of Statesville High School, Class of 1988, and attended Salisbury Business College, where he majored in Business Administration. He attended Bethel Congregational Church of Christ, where he served on the Deacon Board. Kent enjoyed sports and his favorite teams were the Chicago Bulls and Georgetown Hoyas.
Kent was a God-fearing man, very compassionate and a fun-loving husband and father. He also loved tinkering on cars and trucks. He will truly be missed.
In addition to his mother, Frances Elizabeth Gaines Gray, he was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clark and Emma Lois Gray; and maternal grandparents, Henry and Ina Gaines.
He leaves to cherish the memories of his life his wife, Marsha Gray; son, Algernon (Shytice Horne) Reid; sister, Kathy (Tony) Barnes; father- and mother-in-law, Kelvin and Gerri Howell; niece, Monica Gray; sister-in-law, Janel (Soren) Gage; brother-in-law, Patrick (Myra) Howell; uncle, Gene Gray; aunts, Claudia Gray and Isabelle Gray; grandchildren, Kingston Reid, Zhuri Reid, and Zevyn Reid; special nephew, Hezekiah Tucker; godchildren, Iyana Linney, Samelia Hunter, Donovan Hill, and Gabriel Niewinski; and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be at Rutledge and Bigham on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. with the visitation from 12 to 12:30 p.m. Reverend James Williams will officiate and Reverend Dale White will do the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Third Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Stony Point, N.C.
