Mildred Wooten Price, 94, of Statesville, N.C., died Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at her home. Born on Iredell County on June 23, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Ruben Wooten and Betty Johnson Wooten.
Mrs. Wooten attended Iredell County Schools at Celeste Henkel School and was an active life-long member of Front Street Baptist Church and was active in her missions circle and Faithful Friends Sunday School Class. She enjoyed her bowling league for many years and loved to travel on the Christian Tours bus trips. She enjoyed trips to Germany and Hawaii prior to her husband’s passing. She operated Mildred’s beauty shop for over 50 years and her customers became extended family and lifelong friends. She enjoyed cleaning house and working in the yard. She loved having all of her family together for meals which included her famous green beans. She loved Duke basketball and Braves baseball. She never missed a Wooten or Johnson reunion as long as she was able. She very much missed her brothers and sister who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Price, in 1991; a son, Larry Price; two brothers Jim and Lonnie Wooten and his wife Nancy; and a sister Betty Wilson and her husband Norris; a son-in-law, Luther Souther; a granddaughter, Matia Nicholson; and a special friend, Benny Haithcox.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Price and his wife Phyllis; a daughter-in-law, Geri Price; a daughter, Linda Souther; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Wooten. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, along with five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The body will lie in state on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Iredell Memorial Gardens with Rev. Brian Burgess officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

I bowled with Mildred on her team for many years. We also enjoyed other gatherings thru the years. Mildred was a caring, giving person and always had a warm welcoming smile. I will miss her.
