Francis Marion Grant, 90 of Statesville, N.C., passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
Mr. Grant was born in Caswell County on October 15, 1932, the son of the late Fred Grant and Dora Powell Grant.
Marion proudly served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army. In 1953 he married the love of his life, Martha Lazenby Grant. Together they shared 70 years of marriage. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and was employed with Southern Screw, Fischbein Co., and Iredell Memorial Hospital. Marion truly had a servant’s heart; he volunteered with the Boy Scouts and Meals on Wheels and served on numerous committees at his church. He loved woodworking and working in his beautiful yard.
Along with his parents, Marion was preceded in death by his brother, Van Lee Grant.
Those left to cherish the life and legacy of Mr. Grant include his beloved wife Martha; his son Randy Grant (Sherry); his daughter Patti Bollinger (Keith); his grandson, Casey Grant (Ashley); his granddaughters, Brittany Call (Chris), and Megan Kelley (Paul); his great granddaughter, Kelsey Call; his great grandson, Wilder Grant; his brother Ed Grant (Joe Ann); and sister, Shirley Boger Grant.
A celebration of life, with full military honors, for Marion will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, with Rev. David Locke and Rev. Gervase Hitch officiating. The family will greet friends in the church parlor one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m.
