Nelson Gomez Jr., 42, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

He was born on October 22, 1980, in Cuba to Nelson Gomez and Norma Valdes Gomez. He was a graduate from FIU in Miami, Fla., and was employed by Bank of America. Nelson was an animal lover and enjoyed bike riding, fishing, and working on cars. He was also a great cook.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernesto Gomez, Olivia Huguet, Enrique Valdes, and Rosalba Garcia.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Betsy Gomez; brother, Kevin Gomez; niece, Katelyn Gomez; and nephews, Zachary Valverde and Tyler Valverde.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 1, from 1 to 2 p.m. with a service following at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Father Huver Navarro officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lake Norman Humane Society, 2106 Charlotte Highway, Mooresville, NC 28117.
