Law enforcement authorities are searching for a Concord man wanted in connection with a bank robbery in Statesville on Tuesday.
The Statesville Police Department has obtained warrants charging Kelvin Wayne Simmons, 46, with robbing employees of the First Horizon Bank, according to an SPD news release. Simmons is also wanted in connection with “several other bank robberies in recent days” in the region, police said.
Statesville police received an alarm from First Horizon Bank, located at 1829 E. Broad Street, about 9:20 a.m. Shortly after receiving the alarm, police received additional information that there had been a robbery at the bank.
According to the SPD, the suspect walked into the bank with a lunch box and handed a note to the teller stating that he had a gun and demanded money. After receiving the money, the suspect fled the bank in a 2013 Hyundai Sante Fe bearing NC registration plate number TMR-8978, police said.
