Mrs. Janie Mae Lee Brown, 71, of 159 Innes Circle, Unit 104, Statesville, N.C., passed away at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N.C. following a brief illness. She was born in Linden, Ala., on June 22, 1952, and was the daughter of the late Clarence Lee and Missouri Rogers Lee.
She was a graduate of Lynden Academy in Lynden, Ala., and worked as a manager at Wendy’s restaurant. Over the last several years, she made her home in Statesville.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life one son, Royal Antonio Brown of Lynden, Ala.; five daughters, Quantella Yolanda Dials of Statesville, Marion Yashica Brown of Columbia, S.C.,, Kino Schnell Brown of Queens, N.Y., Karma Yakesha Brown of Queens, N.Y., and Brickett Jenae (Zai Que King) Harris of Statesville, N.C.; her goddaughter, Chelsea Redman of Hickory, N.C.; one brother, John Roy (Mary) Lee of Aliceville, Ala.; two sisters, Mattie Earl Lee of Greenville, N.C., and Bertha Lee of Far Rockaway, N. Y.; grandchildren, Shaniece Fidler, Taiyeah Thomas, Tariq Brown, Tashaun Nichoson, Tamori Nicholson, Zyere Long, Satori Brownlow, Kaique King, Patricia Smith and Shaniya Craig; two great grandchildren, Kumasi Cherubin and Emberlynn Nicholson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be held in Alabama.
General Public viewing will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 12 to 5 p.m. Mrs. Brown will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to Lynden, Ala., for services and burial. At other times, family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Quantella Yolanda Dials, Rolling Lane, Statesville, N.C., at other times.
