This news comes just a month after the community raised approximately $30,000 through the “A Clean Slate for a Full Plate” initiative to clear the majority of debt students had accumulated throughout the school year.
“We are so thankful for the support of our community,” explained Superintendent Jeff James. “I’m glad our elected officials are continuing to put school nutrition at the forefront of meeting the needs of our community.”
In addition to providing this school-wide eligibility program, the 2023-2024 Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application is now available for the upcoming school year for families who attend other schools.
Each family only needs to complete this application once. Families that are approved for free or reduced-price meals may be eligible for waivers of certain school and testing fees.
Parents are encouraged to begin their applications today in preparation for the upcoming school year by visiting www.lunchapplication.com and clicking the “Apply Now” link.

Free, free, free, free, free…..Free and Reduced Meals????? For those of you who think this program is free, think again. Seems to me that anytime any branch of government uses the word “free”, a footnote should be added that says, this free program is the result of government stealing taxpayers money. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE!
What kind of human are you that it bothers you to feed hungry children? We are so fortunate in this country to be able to take care of our own people. I’m sure you are one of those who pats himself on the back at Christmas when you give to a charity organization or send money to a mission oversees. Well, buddy, there are kids in this county who go hungry on a daily basis. It’s not their fault; they are children. It is our fault if we can do something about it and choose not to. I guess you live by the Scrooge motto, “It is better that they die and decrease the surplus population.” Maybe, I’d rather not fund ambulance services or hospice service for the likes of you. Hateful people tend to be the ones who want something for nothing when they are in need. You spew a lot of hate on here. It must suck to be you.
Wow, Ms. Lynn. Did I strike a nerve because I don’t agree with you and Mrs. Clinton that ” it takes a village ” nonsense? It does not take a village, Ms. Lynn. It takes responsibility to care for what you bare. I don’t need you to preach to me on what a bad person you think I am because I don’t subscribe to your ideologically flawed thinking. You see, Ms. Lynn, your personal attacks on someone who disagrees with your logic of how a society should run appears to upset you. I don’t care how you feel or how you think you should spend my money!
Thank you Iredell County Schools for helping to feed our kids whose parents may not be as lucky as we are. We don’t know their stories but all we need to know is that there are hungry children here. I’m happy to think some of my tax money, though nothing like that of the owners of gorgeous huge homes, will go to give food for kids who need it. Success begins with a decent meal. I remember being poor. It hurts body and soul. Although church and state are and should be separate, I can only feel that feeding these kids is the decent thing to do, even, perhaps Christian.
