Mrs. Mary Frances Chipley, 88, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on September, 28, 1934, to the late James “Sonny” Chipley and Lucille Mildred White Chipley. She departed this life on Monday, July 24, 2023.
Mary was affectionately known as “Chip” by her family and friends. She attended Morningside High School and prior to her retirement worked as a sewer at Beauty Maid Mills. She was a devoted member of Calvary Presbyterian Church where she served on the Kitchen Committee, the Deacon Board, and the Usher Board.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Arthur Clark Jr.; a son, Anthony Bernard Chipley; and a brother; Fred Young.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, four sons, Jimmy Clark, Billy Lewis Clark (Belinda), Ronald Keith Clark, and Craig Mitchell Clark, all of Statesville; two daughters, Priscilla Whitesides and Andrea Williams (John); a nephew raised in the home, Teddy Redmond; two sisters, Katherine Harris of Graham, N.C., and Diane Hunter (James) of Statesville, N.C.; grandchildren, Shawanna Reinhardt, Tremaine Alic Clark, Shera Lyons, Marcus Towayne Clark, Scottie Ikard, Ojada Ikard, Billy Tyrose Clark, Anikia Clark, Shakira Cowan, Shanika Cowan, Tomeka Simpson, Odessa Chipley, Jeremiah Chipley, Donovan Chipley, Anthony Jerome Williams, Piere D’Mario Williams, Anthony Bernard Hill, Shakiya Hill, and Navel Hill; and a host of great grands, other relatives, church family, and friends.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Calvary Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church. Reverend Timothy Bates will be officiating and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemeter.
