Michael Gray Sherrill Sr., aka “Candy Man”, 71, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.

He was born on January 18, 1952, in Mooresville to the late Bobby Gray Sherrill and Doris Hinson Sherrill. Mr. Sherrill was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country honorably overseas. He was a 1970 graduate of Mooresville High School and was retired from Duke Power and Best Co. He loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandson, Rocky, who called him “Pop Pop.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stevie Sherrill; and sister, Susan Renee Sherrill.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Catherine “Cathy” Ebert Sherrill; children, Stephanie Sherrill (Michael Bowman), amd Michael Gray Sherrill Jr. (Danica Nicole Mincey-Sherrill); grandson, Rocky Gray Bowman; nephew, Craig Sherrill (Rachel Lynn Inks); aunt and uncle, Jerry and Annette Hinson; aunt, Ann Eudy; and lifetime friends, Frankie and Paula Thompson.

A service will be held at a later date.
