Gunnery Sergeant George Martin Hoover, 74, departed this life on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Gordons Hospice House in Statesville, N.C.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Holsey Memorial CME Church. Reverend Michael Sharpe will officiate and Reverend Barbara McCollum, Pastor, will eulogize. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery with Full Military Rites.

Mr. Hoover will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 12:30 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
