Karen Bedella Johnson Philemon, 61, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville. Born July 31, 1962, in Mecklenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Cecil and Enell McAllister Johnson.

Karen was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Johnson, and a sister, Faye Johnson.

She was a homemaker. Karen enjoyed art and painting. She was known for being a hard worker and was loved by everyone she met.

Karen is survived by her sons, James Ray ” Jamie” Philemon and wife Toni, and Christopher Edward Philemon and wife Natasha; and their father, Fred Curtis Philemon; brother, Kenneth Johnson; sister, Betty Allen; grandchildren, Robert Fred Philemon and Jacob James Philemon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel in Mooresville. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. They will also receive friends immediately following the service.
