Woodrow Albert Hooks Jr., 72, of Claremont, N.C., died peacefully surrounded by his wife and three children on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Carolina Caring in Sherrills Ford, N.C. Born on November 4, 1950, in Iredell County, N.C., he was the son of the late Woodrow Albert Hooks Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Stewart Hooks.

Mr. Hooks worked at Framewright Inc. in Conover for 35 years. He was “big” on family, cherishing and spending every minute he could with them.

In addition to his parents, Woodrow and Margaret Hooks Sr., he was preceded in death by his sisters, Rebecca Susan Hooks, Patsy Montaigne, and Gail Stewart; and his brother, Samuel Lee Hooks.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Judy “Kaye” Hooks; daughters, Lisa Setzer and her husband Jonathan, and Anita Slate and her husband Steve; son, Woody Hooks III and his wife Mary; eight grandchildren; and his sisters, Gloria Huffman and her husband Danny, and Judy Tallant.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at TrueVine Worship Center with Pastor Josh Bunton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the church.
