Richard A. Wood, 73, of Statesville, N.C., and formerly from Wolcott, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

He was born on October 27, 1946, in Malone, N.Y., to the late William Wood and Mildred “Mae” McMillan Wood.

Richard was a Vietnam War Army Veteran and retired self-employed truck driver. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Wood, and his brother, Wray Wood.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Mark) Trombley of Ellenburg Center, N.Y.; son, Wray (Sarah) Wood of Wolcott, N.Y.; step-daughters, Wendy (Roy) Fillingham of Harvest, Ala., and Patty Wood of Statesville; step-son, Charles (Susan) Janes; brother, William “Bing” Wood of Malone, N.Y.; sister, Judy Roulston of Chateaugay, N.Y.; and his many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation and services will be private.
