William Joel Miller went home to be with our Heavenly Father on October 6, 2023, at the age of 85. He passed away at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in his hometown of Mooresville, N.C. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be missed terribly. He was always there for his family, friends and co-workers. Everyone who knew him loved him. Joel was a proud Army Veteran. He was a Dye Range Operator/Supervisor before retiring from Burlington industries in 1999 when the mill shut down, which he missed every day.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda Raye Underwood Miller; his mother and father, Alvah and Bertha Miller; his brother and wife, Charles and Sandy Miller, and their son, Jeffrey Miller.
He is survived by three children, Linda Miller Hayer, Deborah Miller Wilson, and Robin Miller Murphy; grandchildren, Anthony and Angela Lambert, Ashley Blevins, Jennifer Miller, Stephanie and husband Greg Taylor, Milah Miller, Evan and wife Sheree Murphy, and Cheyenne Murphy. Also surviving are his great grandchildren, Ty’Kerion, Ty’Jae, and Ti’Yon Little, Zayden Taylor, Anthony, MaryJane and De’Jeuner Burns, and Riley and Alyssa Murphy; along with his nephew and wife, Chuck and Joy Miller.
We will be honoring his life on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Family Life Center at Prospect Presbyterian Church, Mooresville. Military Honors will be presented at 2 p.m. at the church.
