Tommy Gilbert Tomlin, 80, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 15, 2023, after a courageous fight with cancer.

Born on November 1, 1942, to Robert Gilbert Tomlin and Ada Mae Current Tomlin, who preceded him in death, along with a brother, Billy Lee Tomlin of the home.

Survivors include a son, Robert Grant Tomlin of Statesville; two sisters, Peggy St. John of Statesville and Jean Crosby of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; twin granddaughters, Grace and Tara Tomlin of Hickory; a nephew, Chad Johnson (Alina) and their children, Addison and Dylan of Surfside Beach, S.C.; Aunt Lois Tomlin of Statesville; and numerous cousins.

Tommy attended Statesville Senior High School and then spent his time in the car business, opening Tomlin Auto Sales in 1985 on Shelton Avenue (presently Iredell Wholesale). He loved going to car shows in North Carolina and South Carolina and restoring antique cars.

A Tommy’s request, there will be no formal services, but there will be a Celebration of Life service at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
