Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell on Wednesday announced the arrests of 16 suspects as the result of targeted drug enforcement operations.
Six of the suspects were on probation at the time of their arrest. One of the suspects is a verified gang member.
“Drug dealers are dangerous people who profit off of the communities they sell drugs in,” Campbell said. “Overdoses, assaults, break-ins, and robberies are just a few crimes that are fostered by the sale and use of illegal drugs and increase the likelihood of driving other crimes.”
The ICSO is committed to actively pursuing those who sell drugs or arrange for them to be sold and distributed in Iredell County, the sheriff added.
“We will continue to investigate all complaints by conducting surveillance operations and utilizing other investigative means to ensure career and repeat offenders like these see the inside of a jail cell for as long as possible,” he said. “If they will sell drugs to an undercover investigator, they will sell to a child.”
